As Artistic Director of the National Theatre School of Canada (1990-2000) and Chair of RTS (2000-2010) Mr. Schneiderman was instrumental in reinvigorating the classical training curricula as well as instituting the actor as creator components in two of the leading acting programs in the country resulting in a record number of artists from these programs now working in the field. He has directed over 40 professional and conservatory productions in both official languages including many at the Piggery Theatre as Artistic Director.
His directing credits include his translation of Lend Me a Tenor starring Benoit Briere and Natalie Choquette's La Diva with the MSO. In addition to teaching at NTS and RTS he has led master classes in mask and comedia at the Stratford Festival (where he has also coached on two plays by Moliere) and internationally for Cirque de Soleil, HB Studio, Shanghai Academy of Dramatic Art, Moscow Art Theatre School, Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama among others. In conjunction with Louis Georges Girard he has translated a number of English Canadian plays into French including one produced by La Compagnie Jean Duceppe at Place des Arts. He studied at l'Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq and the universities of Washington and McGill.
