Miranda Meijer graduated from the Ryerson School of Performance in 2015 with an Honours BFA in Dance. She is originally from Victoria, BC and is now working as a freelance dancer, actor, choreographer and instructor based in Toronto, ON. In her graduating year she was the recipient of the Kenny Pearl award for heart, potential, commitment and ability. Since graduating, Miranda has toured internationally with Corpus Dance Projects throughout Asia and the US, as well as with the PassionRED Collective in Austria. She trains and performs frequently with Dance Migration, Toronto’s top Brazilian dance company and in December, 2015, performed with Rock Bottom Movement in the Ryerson Holiday Show. Miranda has worked with numerous choreographers in Toronto including ProArteDanza, Hanna Kiel, Alysa Pires, Alyssa Martin and Gadfly. She created her first full length work, Check Mate for Ryerson’s New Voices Festival and remounted her piece, Pacific Mocean, for Kenny Pearl’s 2015 Winter Intensive. Miranda created a new work for the YMI Youth Company through the Pia Bouman school for their show in April, 2016, and she tours across Canada every Spring with The View Dance Challenge. She also travels frequently to Montréal, QC and New York City, NY for workshops and intensives to further her training. Miranda now shares her knowledge and passion for health and the human body as an instructor at Barreworks and looks forward to further opportunities across Canada and internationally.
